I know I am crazy crazy behind with posting. It is October 14th, and it has been a crazy last couple of months. Getting covid was super not fun too! Still can't taste or smell like I used to but getting alot better. There were a couple of things from last Saturday's prayer meeting at the temple I wanted to remember:
First-We just had General Conference and we were reminded that if we just think of General Conference as a nice weekend where we felt the Spirit but don't make any changes in our lives to progess then it was all for nothing. The point of General Conference is to find out what we need to "start doing and stop doing" in the words of our Prophet (from a prior Conference). He also used a phrase I thought interesting this conference in that he encouraged us to get rid of our "favorite sins". We all have them. I know mine is watching Kdramas in my free time. Sometimes I watch for way too many hours, when I am sure I could be much more productive doing something else. This is definitely my favorite "sin" so to speak, that makes me useless and slothful. We were encouraged in our prayer meeting to figure out "what is going to be our new normal" since conference. What are we going to change between now and next conference that will make us a better person and a better disciple of Jesus Christ. I know I need to watch less of my shows, but putting into practice what you preach is always a battle.
Second- we were encouraged to figure how we can draw closer to our Savior during this conference.
And Third- we were encouraged to reread the Apolostolic Blessing our Prophet shared in the Sunday Morning Session, which was:
"With the power of the holy apostleship vested in me, I bless you in your quest to overcome this world. I bless you to increase your faith in Jesus Christ and learn better how to draw upon His power. I bless you to be able to discern truth from error. I bless you to care more about the things of God than the things of this world. I bless you to see the needs of those around you and strengthen those you love. Because Jesus Christ overcame this world, you can too. I so testify in the sacred name of Jesus Christ, amen."
So beautiful! The entire talk is really worth reading. Here is a link

Another thing the sister speaking mentioned in our meeting is that as she has read about Nephi in the book of mormon, she has wondered what is it she has to do be as righteous as Nephi, to get to see the future like he did by the power of God. And the Holy Ghost spoke to her mind, "You are already living it". What Nephi was seeing in his day of the future, is here, is now.
I loved that story she shared. She also shared a book she as read called The Second Coming, which I have now downloaded. It was a book written 50 years ago and the original title was the Coming of the Lord. Since then there have been so many prophets and apostles and prophecies that have come to pass, that the book was recently updated to the version it is in now.
One insight she gathered from the book was that the "World is not falling apart, it is falling into place" Meaning that the pieces are falling into place for the Second Coming. How exciting of a time that we live in, as dreadful and scary as it may seem with the chaos and wickedness of the world. When we have faith in our Lord, and Savior Jesus Christ, and in our Heavenly Father, we can find the peace, only they can give.
