My Jesus is the Same in the New Year-Anonymous

“My Jesus Is the Same in the New Year…”

The calendar turns,

the year changes,

the world keeps moving.

But my Jesus does not.

He is the same in the new year

as He was in the old—

steady when everything else shifts,

faithful when life feels uncertain,

present when the noise fades

and the quiet settles in.

I step into this new year

with questions still unanswered,

prayers still forming,

and faith that has been tested by time.

And still—

He remains.

The same Jesus who met me in my past,

who carried me through seasons I never planned,

who stayed when others left

and whispered peace when I couldn’t find it on my own.

This new year doesn’t promise ease.

It doesn’t guarantee certainty.

But it carries the same Savior—

unchanging, unshaken,

holding tomorrow the way He held yesterday.

I don’t need to know what comes next.

I only need to remember

Who walks with me into it.

Because my Jesus is the same

in January as He was in December,

the same in joy and in grief,

the same in beginnings

and in endings.

And that is enough.

If the year ahead brings blessings,

I will thank Him.

If it brings trials,

I will trust Him.

For my hope isn’t in the turning of the year—

it’s in the One

who never changes at all.

Amen 🤍

“After Christmas, He Remains”

 “After Christmas, He Remains”

After Christmas,

when the songs grow quiet

and the world moves on,

Jesus remains.

The lights dim.

The decorations wait to be put away.

The house settles into stillness.

And there He is—

not leaving with the season,

not fading with the celebration,

not wrapped up and stored away.

He is still here.

Born not for a moment,

but for forever.

Not for a holiday,

but for every ordinary day

that follows.

The manger reminds us

He came quietly.

Without applause.

Without announcement.

Into the middle of a broken world

that didn’t fully notice

what had arrived.

And the day after Christmas

feels a lot like that.

Less noise.

More truth.

A sacred hush

where faith doesn’t shout—

it rests.

Jesus didn’t come

to stay in the glow of the tree.

He came to walk with us

when the lights are gone,

when joy feels thinner,

when the heart is reflective

and the year ahead feels unknown.

After Christmas,

we remember why He came.

To dwell with us.

To carry what we cannot.

To remain steady

when everything else moves on.

The gifts are opened.

The tables are cleared.

But the promise stays.

Emmanuel—

God with us.

Not just on Christmas morning,

but on December 26.

And January.

And every quiet, ordinary day

that needs His presence

more than celebration.

After Christmas,

Jesus remains.

And somehow,

that is the greatest gift of all.

Tithing

💕 I also have a very special testimony of paying tithing. Everyone knows as an accountant my life is numbers. And I can’t tell you how many times over the years the numbers haven’t looked great but after paying our tithing first, the Lord made up the difference in one way or another. So grateful for the commandment of tithing to give us an opportunity to see the Lords hand in our lives!

The university in which I studied had a regulation that prohibited the students that were in debt from taking tests. For this reason, when I received my salary I would first separate the money for tithing and offerings, and the remainder was allotted for the payment of the school and other expenses.🥹

I remember a time when I … faced serious financial difficulties. It was a Thursday when I received my salary. When I figured the monthly budget, I noticed that there wouldn’t be enough to pay [both] my tithing and my university. I would have to choose between them. The bimonthly tests would start the following week, and if I didn’t take them I could lose the school year. I felt great agony. … My heart ached. I had a painful decision before me, and I didn’t know what to decide. I pondered between the two choices: to pay tithing or to risk the possibility of not obtaining the necessary credits to be approved in school.

This feeling consumed my soul and remained with me up to Saturday. It was then that I remembered that when I was baptized I had agreed to live the law of tithing. I had taken upon myself an obligation, not with the missionaries, but with my Heavenly Father. At that moment, the anguish started to disappear, giving place to a pleasant sensation of tranquility and determination. …

That night when I prayed, I asked the Lord to forgive me for my indecision. On Sunday, before the beginning of sacrament meeting, I contacted the bishop, and with great pleasure I paid my tithing and offerings. That was a special day. I felt happy and peaceful within myself and with Heavenly Father.

The next day I was in my office; I tried to find a way to be able to take the tests that would begin on Wednesday. The more I thought, the further I felt from a solution. At that time I worked in an attorney’s office, and my employer was the most strict and austere person I had ever met.

The working period was ending when my employer approached and gave the last orders of the day. When he had done so, with his briefcase in his hand he bid farewell. … Suddenly he halted, and looking at me he asked, ‘𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘦?’

I was surprised, and I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. The only thing I could answer with a trembling voice was, ‘𝘌𝑣𝘦𝑟𝘺𝑡𝘩𝑖𝘯𝑔 𝑖𝘴 𝘢𝑙𝘭 𝘳𝑖𝘨ℎ𝘵!’

He looked thoughtfully at me and bid farewell again. …

Suddenly the secretary entered the room, saying that I was a very fortunate person! When I asked her why, she simply answered: ‘𝑇𝘩𝑒 𝑒𝘮𝑝𝘭𝑜𝘺𝑒𝘳 𝘩𝑎𝘴 𝘫𝑢𝘴𝑡 𝑠𝘢𝑖𝘥 𝘵ℎ𝘢𝑡 𝑓𝘳𝑜𝘮 𝘵𝑜𝘥𝑎𝘺 𝘰𝑛 𝑡𝘩𝑒 𝑐𝘰𝑚𝘱𝑎𝘯𝑦 𝑖𝘴 𝘨𝑜𝘪𝑛𝘨 𝘵𝑜 𝑝𝘢𝑦 𝑓𝘶𝑙𝘭𝑦 𝑓𝘰𝑟 𝑦𝘰𝑢𝘳 𝘤𝑜𝘭𝑙𝘦𝑔𝘦 𝘢𝑛𝘥 𝘺𝑜𝘶𝑟 𝑏𝘰𝑜𝘬𝑠. 𝘉𝑒𝘧𝑜𝘳𝑒 𝑦𝘰𝑢 𝑙𝘦𝑎𝘷𝑒, 𝘴𝑡𝘰𝑝 𝑎𝘵 𝘮𝑦 𝑑𝘦𝑠𝘬 𝘢𝑛𝘥 𝘪𝑛𝘧𝑜𝘳𝑚 𝑚𝘦 𝘰𝑓 𝑡𝘩𝑒 𝑐𝘰𝑠𝘵𝑠 𝑠𝘰 𝘵ℎ𝘢𝑡 𝑡𝘰𝑚𝘰𝑟𝘳𝑜𝘸 𝘐 𝘤𝑎𝘯 𝘨𝑖𝘷𝑒 𝑦𝘰𝑢 𝑡𝘩𝑒 𝑐𝘩𝑒𝘤𝑘.’

After she left, crying and feeling very humble, I knelt exactly where I was and thanked the Lord for His generosity. I … said to Heavenly Father that He didn’t have to bless me so much. I only needed the cost of one month’s installment, and the tithing I had paid on Sunday was very small compared to the amount I was receiving!

During that prayer the words recorded in Malachi came to my mind: ‘𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵, 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀, 𝗶𝗳 𝗜 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮 𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝘁’ (Mal. 3:10).

Update

Wow, I can't believe my last post was in September of 2023! That's crazy! It couldn't be farther from the truth that I haven't had a spiritual experience or insight since that time. Life has just been so busy that I have been bad about writing it down.

The cliff's notes of current events. We just had our wonderful October general conference session with incredible talks that spoke to my heart! Unfortunately our beloved Pres Nelson had just passed so it was the first time in many years to not have him there. Our new prophet Dallin H Oaks was just set apart this last week as our new prophet and I am excited to learn from him!

I am not going to attempt to catchup all that has happened, but I still want to share that I have a burning testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ! Of his life, atonement, crucifixion, resurrection and the access I have to his love every day!

This morning I am procrastinating a bit as I should be preparing my primary lesson tomorrow, but instead I am paying bills, updating my other blog, which I just finished catching up 3 years in the past week!

Soon I will be getting ready for my temple shift at the Bountiful Temple! Oh how I love to be in the Temple!

I feel like my testimony in serving there these last 4 and a half years has been cemented into my soul. My beliefs have turned into knowledge!

I know longer believe in the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know with a surety beyond all shadow of doubt the reality of it.

I am so grateful for so many tender mercies that God has given me in my life. I am not only blessed daily but sometimes hourly!

I know we all are, so we just have to look for the blessings, and we will be astounded by how much we are guided by the Holy Ghost, and helped by angels on the other side of the veil!

As I celebrated my 42nd birthday, I was filled with so much joy. This quote says it all! The blessings I have in my life of being a daughter, granddaughter, wife, dog mom, aunt, sister, accountant, primary worker, temple worker and so much more have blessed me in ways I could never imagine! All I could think of was the song

When upon life's billows you are tempest tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your blessings, see what God hath done;
Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your many blessings, see what God hath done.

Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, ev'ry doubt will fly,
And you will be singing as the days go by.

When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold;
Count your many blessings, money cannot buy
Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high.

So, amid the conflict, whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey's end.

Thoughts from Sunday School

A couple of great scriptures we discussed in Sunday School today! Would love to hear what stood out to you from church today, whatever church you attended. 😊
